As the Advertising Self-Regulation Board (RÖK), in cooperation with the Ministry of Trade and the Ministry of Treasury and Finance, we launched the first “Responsible Influencer Training Program” on November 25, with the participation of 71 influencers, each having 300K or more followers.
The training program covered a wide range of topics, from consumer rights to tax regulations, how to manage social media ads within ethical advertising guidelines and the protection of personal data in advertising. The event took place in an interactive environment, with content creators actively participating and asking insightful questions.

Session by the Ministry of Trade’s Advertising Board:
Esin Gökçeoğlu provided information on universal consumer rights, the consumer protection law, and the duties of the Consumer Protection and Market Surveillance General Directorate established under this law. Participants also learned about the structure and operation of the Advertising Board.
Erdem Biçer presented the legal regulations regarding social media advertising, sharing details about these regulations, and analyzing the Advertising Board’s example decisions with participants’ questions.
Session by the Ministry of Treasury and Finance’s Tax Audit Board:
The tax inspectors Anıl Bilen and Gökhan Demirbilek briefed the social media influencers on their tax obligations. They explained the rights and duties of taxpayers, the purpose and scope of tax regulations in the digital economy, and key aspects of tax legislation.
Anıl Bilen also shared details of the legal framework regarding the taxation of social content creators and digital services, and examined practical examples with participants.
Session by the Advertising Self-Regulation Board:
Müge Tanıl provided information on the ethical principles of marketing communication, including the basic principles of responsible advertising, social responsibility in advertising, transparency and other related topics.
The jury member of RÖK, Atty. Özlem Sezgin, covered the topic of personal data protection in advertising.
The jury member of RÖK, Atty. Esra Tapban, discussed intellectual property rights and the relevant legal regulations.
The training program aims to raise awareness among influencers about the responsible creation of content and fulfilling their legal obligations.
The program will continue every two months.
